²² While Israel lived in that country, Reuben slept with Bilhah, the concubine of his father, and Israel came to know about it.

The Twelve Sons of Jacob.^[a] Jacob had twelve sons.

²³ The sons of Leah:

Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn,

Simeon, Levi, Judah,

Issachar and Zebulun.

²⁴ The sons of Rachel:

Joseph and Benjamin.
